The insertions are generally painless, points are located throughout the body and the needles are retained for 30-40 minutes. Acupuncture is given at every treatment and considered the foundation of Oriental medicine therapy in the West.

Electro-acupuncture is a therapy where the needles are attached to an electrical current that continuously stimulates the acupuncture points. This is the same as using a tens unit or electrical muscle stimulation.
